UXC today revealed to us that France’s Teddy Voilet (8-1), pictured top right, his signed on the dotted line to fight against Tommy McCafferty (6-0) in the main event of UXC III on May 2nd.
The 23-year-old submission expert made a perfect 8-0 start to his professional career but lost his last fight to, now BAMMA champ, Tom Duquesnoy at BAMMA 15 almost a year ago.
McCafferty was originally set to fight Artem Lobov but the SBG fighter had to pull out of the fight due to unmentioned reasons although he did speak to us recently about his desire to try out for the latest season of TUF which will all take place around the time of UXC III.
McCafferty is one fighter many Irish MMA media members have heralded to be one of the next potential fighters from Ireland who could transition to the UFC.
UXC matchmaker Dec Larkin spoke of his excitement for this fight:
“When Artem (Lobov) pulled out we were worried that we couldn’t find a high quality replacement but thankfully we found just that in Teddy Voilet. This is an incredible fight and I am very excited to see how it plays out. Voilet has some great submission skills and McCafferty is extremely well versed, this will be a great main event to a great night of fights.”
