Bad week for ‘The Bandit’

One of the more respected figures in Irish MMA Dec ‘The Brandit’ Larkin (13-10) embarked on a tough schedule recently travelling to Finland and then Switzerland to compete against two tough European fighters.

Being a pro fighter is just one of the roles Larkin takes on. He is also a referee on the local scene and a promoter with UXC, the latter of which was a role he was in just two weeks prior to his fight in Finland as UXC FN 4 took place August 30th.

Larkin competed against Estonia’s Ott Tonissaar (9-2) in a lightweight contest at Carelia Fight 11 in Helsinki on September 12th. The Next Gen NI fighter lost via rear-naked choke in the first round to the submission artist who has a 66% submission ratio.

A week later Larkin travelled to Switzerland to compete in the well known Lions FC promotion. This time ‘The Bandit’ would compete against the dangerous Ange Loosa (4-0) at welterweight. The Swiss fighter kept his 100% record of first round finishes intact as he TKO’d Larkin in the second minute of their encounter at the event which saw 8 first round finishes.

Prior to this bad patch Larkin had captured his first pro title in a win over Gavin Carlin at Chaos FC 14.
