Marcin Wrzosek aiming to be KSW champ before the end of 2016

Over the weekend European promotion KSW announced the signing of TUF alumni Marcin Wrzosek (10-3) to a multi fight contract ending some speculation surrounding the fighter.

Many people were surprised that Wrzosek was not kept on in the UFC. After all he did win 3 fights in total on TUF before being submitted by Saul Rogers in the semi-finals and at the TUF 22 finale he was on the wrong side of very close split decision.

Unsurprisingly, after the UFC decided to not keep the 28-year-old on there were rumours of where he might end up. And in a recent chat, Wrzosek confirmed to me that multiple promotions were interested in him but KSW was the best option for him.

“There were quite a few promotions offering me fights after the UFC released me but in my opinion signing with KSW was the best choice to make,” said Wrzosek. “They are definitely the best organisation in Europe and every event does not only offer the highest level of competition around but it also an eye pleasing show. I am pleased to sign a multi-fight contract with them.”

‘The Polish Zombie’ enters a strong featherweight division but he has one goal- to win the title. Artur Sowinski (17-7, 2 NC) is the man who currently holds the title and he defended the strap at KSW 34 at the weekend beating Brazilian Fabiano Silva via unanimous decision in a performance that didn’t impress Wrzosek too much.

“My goal here in KSW is to take the belt from Sowinski before the end of the year. Our paths will cross eventually. His last performance against Silva just ensured me there are a few gaps in his game and I know I will be able to capitalise on them. Obviously there will be no easy fights in the featherweight division but if you want to be the best you have to beat the best.”

So when can you expect to see Marcin Wrzosek make his debut for KSW? I asked him and he simply said the aim was to get on the massive KSW 35 in May and officials from KSW confirmed that it is the plan.

KSW 35 takes place May 27th from the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. In the meantime please check out our behind the scenes video from KSW 34.
