Dana White wouldn’t mind talking to CM Punk

It seems that the idea of CM Punk going into MMA has gotten a little more serious of late. The former WWE superstar has been a fan of the sport for some time, is good friends with Chael Sonnen and has also spent the past number of years training with the Gracies.

Punk left the WWE earlier this years after a difference of opinions with creative and the directors. Since then their relationship has strained even more with Punk revealing that he received his sacking papers from the WWE the morning of his wedding.

Speaking with TMZ Sports Dana White revealed that he would like to speak with CM Punk.

“I like him very much. He’s a great dude. I don’t know if he can fight or anything like that but sure I wouldn’t mind speaking to CM Punk.”

Alan’s Angle: Punk also recently revealed that he has a non-compete clause in his WWE contract. I don’t know the ins and outs of that but I would assume it is for a certain period after his contract was terminated.

Just in case you are rolling your eyes at the idea and thinking to yourself “no way” it actually wouldn’t be that far of a stretch to see CM Punk enter the UFC. It certainly makes sense from the UFC’s side as Punk would bring in some serious numbers as he is massive in the pro-wrestling world. The UFC are all about making money and some spectacle fights like the ones that involved James Toney and Kimbo Slice are what is needed sometimes.

From Punk’s side I feel he has enough support, resources and knowledge to at least give this a consideration. Haven’t Bobby Lashley, Dave Bautista and even Bam Bam Bigelow given MMA a try (see pro-wrestlers in MMA)… I would like to see it.
