UFC Fight Night London: Five fights that’ll make you say whoa

The UFC’s annual visit to London takes place this coming Saturday. They’ve put together a card that initially had fight fans disappointed that the UFC had forsaken them yet again. Well, the majority of those expressing disdain for the card were emphatically drowned out by those who voraciously snapped up tickets for the event when they were released finally leading to a sold out event. Not bad going for a Fight Night card.

It’s a line up of fan favorites based in the UK. These are exciting athletes that we should be getting behind. In our time honored fashion here at WHOA TV we’ve assembled a list of those fights we feel will make you say whoa.

Jimi Manuwa vs Jan Blachowicz II
Manuwa will look for the takedown early…just checking that you are reading this word for word. Manuwa being the stand up specialist he is will of course look to keep this standing and finish early. He’ll be out to make a statement following his loss at the hands of Volkan Oezdemir. ‘The Posterboy’ will also be keen to improve on his first clash with Blachowicz that, owing to a concealed injury, led to an unsatisfactory decision victory for Manuwa. I see this being a short night for the Pole in which Manuwa re-establishes himself as a fearsome striker the division should avoid.

Leon Edwards vs Peter Sobotta
Interestingly enough whilst Edwards is the only fighter of Jamaican descent on the card Sobotta is also representing, as he does usually, Jamaica too. It has perplexed Edwards as he told WHOA TV recently, so much so, he has vowed to finish the Pole. We believe he’ll do just that…Yardman style.

John Phillips vs Charles Byrd
The eagerly anticipated entry in to the UFC has finally arrived for the third Welshman to grace the Octagon. Phillips 21-6-0 garnered the reputation as a powerful KO artist having established himself on the European circuit. Given the more experienced of the two, Phillips will be taking on a 9-4-0 fighter, this will not go to the final round. Expect a KO, a brutal early KO.

Stevie Ray vs Kajan Johnson
Ray will undoubtedly feel a sense of pressure after being KO’d in his last fight with Paul Felder. He’s certainly got his work cut out for him here as Johnson is a formidable opponent to face after a loss. This would be a great scalp if Stevie can secure a win. Given his tenacious nature Ray is more than capable of snatching victory via a decision here.

Danny Robert vs Oliver Enkamp
Roberts has more than double the experience of Enkamp and will be mindful he is literally fighting for his job. Interestingly enough both men last fought Nordine Taleb who proved too much for each of them handing them both a loss for their troubles. Given Roberts’ experience expect a striking clinic from ‘Hot Chocolate’ to put him back in the win column.
