Irish MMA veteran Neil Seery scored his third win in the UFC on Saturday night with a submission victory over Jon delos Reyes in the second round at Dublin’s 3Arena.
The first round was mainly Seery’s as he used his boxing to his advantage and scored a number of big shots. Not phased, Reyes kept coming forward onto Seery’s swinging arms. Seery also showed some great head movement avoiding a lot of strikes from Reyes.
The next round was a little closer. Reyes closed the distance a little more and was arguably winning the grappling exchanges but each time Seery popped out of trouble using his experience. Reyes then shot for a takedown and upon lifting Seery up and slamming him down he left his neck exposed and Seery wrapped his arms around for the guillotine.
Seery improves to 3-2 in the UFC and scored his first stoppage victory in the promotion.
“If anybody gets injured I’ll step in. I’m at an age now where I won’t make it to the top but I’ll fight anybody”, said Seery to Dan Hardy post-fight.
