Scotland’s Joanne Calderwood (9-1) has received a new opponent for the promotion’s debut in her homeland on July 18th.
Originally she was set to face Australia’s Bec Rawlings (6-4), a fellow competitor from TUF, but she was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury. Stepping in to replace Rawlings is Courtney Casey (4-1), this fight will also mark her UFC debut.
Calderwood is currently 1-1 in the UFC and she will be looking to bounce back after her surprising defeat against Maryna Moroz earlier this year. ‘JoJo’ stands four inches taller than Casey and obviously has more experience within the UFC, and all that entails. She will also have the benefit of a full camp.
Casey is a dangerous fighter and all four of her victories have come in the first round, two via submission and two via TKO.
UFC Scotland takes place on July 18th in Glasgow and features Michael Bisping vs. Thales Leites in the main event.
