Diaz Vs Silva – Free Fights

Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz headline UFC 183 this coming weekend in one of the most anticipated MMA fights of our generation. Will Silva be able to rebound from a near career ending leg injury? Will Diaz be able to bounce back from nearly two years away from MMA to defeat the often hailed G.O.A.T?

So while we will have to wait until this weekend to see how Diaz Vs Silva plays out, to build up to the fight the UFC have treated us to two free fights. Firstly Nick Diaz Vs Drew Fickett from UFC 51, and then Anderson Silva Vs Forrest Griffin.

At the time of the Fickett fight Diaz was 9-3 in his MMA career and coming off a loss to Karo Paryisan at UFC 49. This was the first UFC stint for Diaz which saw him leave the promotion in November 2006 and not return until October 2011. You will see for yourself but Diaz certainly was looking to avenge his loss to Paryisan as quickly as possible and it took him just the first round to put away Drew Fickett.

Heading into UFC 101, Silva was on a tear of the Middleweight division and was riding a 10 fight win streak and had defended his Middleweight Title five times. Griffin meanwhile had just lost the Light Heavyweight Title to Rashad Evans and was looking to bounce back to winning ways. But some Matrix-esque movement from Silva proved too much for Griffin who for the first time in his career lost two fights on the bounce.
