Cathal Pendred set for Fight Night Boston

Boston born Cathal Pendred gets his dreams answered as he has become the latest Irishman to join the UFC Fight Night Boston card on January 18th. Pendred will be fighting alongside team mates Conor McGregor and Paddy Holohan in what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cards on 2015.

The prospect of fighting in his birth place is a blessing in disguise for Pendred and he is overwhelmed with the opportunity the UFC has presented him. “This is a dream come true. I haven’t been back since I left and to be making my return there to fight in the UFC, it’s like something out of a movie.”

Like Pendred his opponent Sean Spencer is coming off two back to back wins over Gasan Umalatov and Paulo Thiago and will arguably be the Irishman’s toughest test to date. But Pendred is not letting his opponent overshadow his feelings towards bringing the fighting Irish to Boston. “I don’t really know much about Sean Spencer, and I don’t really care. I’m going over there to make a statement and put on a performance for everyone.”

With McGregor, Holohan, Pendred and Parke on the card the atmosphere is already beginning to build towards the event and the SBG fighters will be looking to recreate this year’s UFC Dublin card across the pond. “This will be like UFC Dublin part two. I can see 3,000 or 4,000 people flying over from Dublin to this event. The rest will be made up mainly of people from Boston who are Irish-Americans. That Irish passion will be present in the crowd just like in July, except there will be twice as many in attendance”
