Cage Warriors 94 results

Fighters from 8 European countries met in Antwerp’s Lotto Arena for CW94 tonight, a truly memorable event which further solidified Cage Warriors claim as the ultimate proving ground for the most legitimate fighting talent on the continent.

In the CW94 main event, Ilia Topuria took less than a round to submit Belgium’s Brian Bouland with one of the most impressive technical submissions of the year so far. Topuria, from Georgia, seemed entirely unaffected by taunts of the Belgian crowds as he went 6-0 and kept his 100% finish rate intact.

Local fan favourite Jan Quaeyhaegens welcomed Ireland’s Phil Mulpeter to Antwerp with a back-and-forth 3 round main card opener, ending with a technical submission victory for Mulpeter. A seriously impressive end to a fight which not only showcased Mulpeter’s willingness to establish himself as a Cage Warriors welterweight contender once again, but Quaeyhaegens’ sheer determination and ability to hang with legitimate experience.

Second up was a one-round lightweight war between Hubert Geven and Donovan Desmae that had the entire Lotto Arena on their feet. After 5 minutes of insane action, referee Leon Roberts was forced to stop the contest between rounds due to an eye injury sustained by Desmae. A striking war for the ages that’s had plenty of fans calling for a repeat as soon as possible.

Sameer Alekozai and Krzysztof Klaczek, two of the best wrestlers in Europe, met in the featherweight division next in a scramble for dominant position that lasted the full 3 rounds. Klaczek edged a unanimous decision in an away win that proved he’s a serious problem for anyone at 145lbs. In the CW94 co-main event, exciting U.K prospect Jai Herbert was victorious in his Cage Warriors debut after a superbly matched lightweight contest with Belgium’s Erdi Karatas, which saw both men threaten in deadly striking and grappling exchanges til the final bell.

Stand outs from the pro prelims included a brutal liver kick TKO victory for Italy’s Angelo Rubino, and a hard fought win for U.K prospect Cory McKenna after 3 tough rounds with Eva Dourthe.

Cage Warriors’ next outing sees the promotion hit London’s Indigo at the O2 Arena for CW95, their 5th anniversary event in the venue, headlined by a welterweight title fight between Merhdad Janzemini and Stefano Paterno.
