Normally I wouldn’t report on something like this but just about everything Ronda Rousey does is major news. After months of speculation and hints of a relationship between the pair from an estranged wife it has been confirmed by Travis Browne himself, he is in fact dating Ronda Rousey.
I actually shouldn’t say the word ‘dating’ as Browne said he doesn’t like that word when he appeared on The MMA Hour and confirmed everything (transcription via MMAFighting.com).
“Dating is for children,” Browne said. “Dating is for kids. Over the summer, through all the sh*t that I had to shuffle through, that I had to sift through, Ronda and I started talking throughout the summer and I’ll say now that we are together. She’s my woman and I’m her man. There’s no boyfriend, girlfriend stuff. There’s no dating. We’re together.”
The pair train together under Edmond Tarverdyan at Glendale Fighting Club in LA and the UFC heavyweight said that their relationship isn’t a distraction at all to his training.
“There isn’t a single damn thing, unless it has to do with a family member on their deathbed, that’s going to distract me from those two hours and being focused in that gym. When my coach talks, I listen. When he’s working with somebody else, I’m watching.”
Being acquaintances first and being in the same gym together has given a good foundation for their relationship hinted Browne while saying he knows the real Ronda Rousey.
“I see her for who she is. The fact that she’s out there winning ESPYS and the star she is on the movie screen and all that kind of stuff, that’s all great. But that’s not who I know her as, if that makes sense. I know her as one of the hardest working athletes that I’ve ever seen, in this gym busting her butt on a daily basis. And through our own personal experiences of how compassionate and really how much of a sweetheart she really is.”
Browne is separated from his ex wife, Jenna Webb, a few months now, he was accused of domestic abuse. The UFC conducted a third party investigation into the matter as they do not tolerate any of their athletes being involved with domestic abuse but the investigation found no conclusive evidence in this case. Webb has hinted in the past at further actions against Browne.
