BROCK LESNAR RETURNING TO THE UFC?

There has been a rumour floating around that Brock Lesnar will be in attendance at UFC 168 and will have a meeting with Dana White at some point over the weekend.

When asked about Lesnar coming in for a meeting at the pre-fight press conference White replied, “Really?? I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.” And then reiterated that being his honest answer.

It is said that Brock Lesnar is signed to the WWE until WrestleMania 30 in March/April, so a return is not out of question contract wise for all parties involved. It is also worth considering that Lesnar pulled a similar move last year which had fans and media highlight his profile and gave WrestleMania 29 some major exposure amongst the MMA media.

The 36-year-old is over two years free from diverticulitis, the disease that nearly ended his career on two separate occasions. So it really only depends on whether he wishes to compete again as there are very little barriers. The UFC wouldn’t stand in the way of such a PPV draw and, as proven in the past, Brock Lesnar does what Brock Lesnar wants to do!

Alan’s Angle: No way White would give something this big away pre-fight. It would take away from the fights that are happening on Saturday night and, if it is true, it would be the biggest way possible to end a fantastic year for the UFC. The UFC could do with a Brock Lesnar return PPV wise, especially now that GSP is gone. The injection of popularity would be the same, if not bigger, than when he first arrived in 2008.

It has been nearly two years to the day since Brock Lesnar retired from the UFC following suffering back to back losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem. His battle diverticulitis marred his final three appearances having taken a year off on two separate occasions and noticeably taking a toll on his performances.

While I would happily like to see Lesnar back in the UFC I don’t expect him to be a challenger or to stay for more than two or three fights. I would personally love to see a rubber match between Lesnar and Mir. Oh the excitement for more info to be revealed, as if you needed anymore MMA excitement this weekend!!
