It wouldn’t be a UFC event in Dublin without the presence of Ireland’s Ais ‘The Bash’ Daly (15-6). Fans and fighters alike around Ireland have been calling for more Irish on the card and this morning they got their wish with the announcement of Daly on the card. She will face Brazil’s Ericka Almeida (7-1).
Despite being just 27-years-old Daly has been fighting professional since 2007. She joined the promotion through TUF, where she made the quarter finals. Post-TUF Daly is 1-1, she won her first fight beating Alex Chambers via submission but faltered in his next fight dropping a unanimous decision to Randa Markos earlier this year.
Almeida made her UFC debut earlier this year where she lost via unanimous decision to Juliana de Lima Carneiro. Before that the 26-year-old went on a tear in her native Brazil winning seven straight, all finishes, six of which were in the first round.
Alan’s Angle: Daly is very much a grappler. She has been labelled as unorthodox and awkward in the past in regards to her striking and grappling which makes her incredibly tough to fight. This is a winnable fight for Ais but it won’t be easy by any means. I expect a stern grappling based fight where both fighters are more comfortable.
