TJ Dillashaw wants Jose Aldo if McGregor fails this weekend

UFC bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw has thrown his hat into the ring for a proposed fight with featherweight champ Jose Aldo, if Conor McGregor fails to get past Dennis Siver this weekend.

A series of events and injuries has left Dillashaw without an obvious challenger for his title and the 28-year-old told MMAJunkie that he feels like now would be the perfect time to challenge for a second UFC title.

“Now would be the time, because I don’t have anyone to fight,” he said. “I know they want to give him McGregor, so I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that McGregor loses to Siver. I don’t see how it’s going to happen, but if that happens, hopefully I can call out Aldo. That’d be so sweet to be the first one to hold two belts at the same time.”

Dom Cruz would have been the obvious choice but he suffered another knee injury, Raphael Assuncao recently broke his ankle ruling him out for a while and the proposal of fighting Renan Barao for a third time doesn’t appeal to the champ right now.

Another possibility would be Team Alpha Male founder and teammate Urijah Faber. Although the two said they would rather not fight each other they would at least entertain the idea.

Alan’s Angle: I feel that this is a very long shot. First McGregor has to lose and then the UFC has to overlook Frankie Edgar, who looked outstanding in his last fight, as the next in line for a shot at Aldo’s title. Something tells me that the UFC would love to have Dillashaw fight Faber in California. That fight would be massive and regardless who would win the promotion would come out on top.
