Earlier this month the world was exposed to Ken Shamrock vs. Kimbo Slice in what was a monumental event for Bellator, as suggested by the great ratings. But it split people’s opinions on the fight, some said it was just terrible MMA and others thought the fight was a fix or a fake.
One person who thought the latter was UFC commentator Joe Rogan who said the fight ‘looked fake as fuck’ on a recent podcast. While talking to our friends over at Submission Radio, Ken Shamrock responded to Joe Rogan’s thoughts.
“Why in the world would someone in Joe Rogan’s position spout off something like that when there’s no proof. It is a speculation of his thoughts that could literally ruin someone’s career. That’s like me going out there and telling his wife that he cheated on her. That I don’t have any proof but someone just said something.”
You have the peoples’ ear, you have a responsibility to make sure that whatever you say, you can back up. Not just say it because you think it. You ruin peoples’ lives on something he has no proof. He’s wrong with what he said. He could have ruined my career and my life. What he’s saying? There’s no proof to it.”
Then Shamrock wholeheartedly proclaimed that the fight was not a fix in saying: “I swear on everything that I love, my family, my God, that fight was not fixed.”
When asked what is next for him and whether he would fight again Shamrock only had one response – “absolutely”, before telling his desire to fight Royce Gracie for a third time, the last one being over twenty years ago at UFC 5.
“Listen, I would be all over a fight with Royce. I’ll tell you, Royce is the one I want to fight. It has been a long time coming.”
Other topics were his training, a rematch with Kimbo, how he felt in the fight, his movie, his brother Frank and much more. You can listen to the whole interview below;
