A few days before his headline slot at Bellator 148 Paul Daley took to periscope to interact with fans. As per usual with periscope sessions fans do ask any number of questions and broach certain topics that might seem completely left field. Two such topics were Wanderlei Silva and Conor McGregor.
When asked what his dream fight in MMA would be Daley simply pointed towards ‘The Axe Murderer’ as a fight he would love. The confident Englishman went on to say that he would knock Silva out in one round and pleaded to fans to get onto the former Pride champ on Twitter about the potential fight.
When the topic of McGregor got broached Daley seemed a little more respectful praising McGregor as a fighter while saying that he believes his hands are heavier and on the feet he would get the knockout win over the Irishman.
Daley (37-13-2) takes on Andy Uhrich (11-5) in the main event of Bellator 148 this Friday night in California. Daley is undefeated in the promotion at 3-0 while Uhrich is 1-2 but comes into this fight having won his past three fights outside the promotion.
Alan’s Angle: With Wanderlei getting his release from the UFC this fight is very much a possibility. Of course his fate of fighting in North America still has to be decided by the NSAC in the coming weeks. Either way this fight could happen in either Bellator or partner promotion RIZIN in Japan, where the American commission’s have no jurisdiction.
On the topic of McGregor no fighter is safe from being asked his or her opinion. Every fighter should fancy himself over another so it is no surprise that Daley believes he would beat the UFC champ. While a fight between the pair is almost certain never to happen it is still ok to daydream about two of MMA’s true knockout artists going at it. After all McGregor has stated that he would love to go up to welterweight at some stage in his career.
