PARKE AND SANCHEZ TWITTER EXCHANGE

It seems that Diego Sanchez is starting to get more than a few enemies on the island that is Ireland. After numerous clashes with Conor McGregor in recent times Sanchez is now dealing with the other Irish MMA UFC representative Norman Parke (19-2).

Parke made his debut in the UFC in 2012 winning the TUF:Smashes series at lightweight and has since notched-up three impressive victories on the trot, the latest coming at UFC’s visit to Manchester in October.

It all started when Sanchez tweeted; “@norman_parke vs @TheNotoriousMMA who wins.” Parke in response challenged Sanchez to fight on the, yet to be announced, Dublin card next year.

Diego, who faces Myles Jury at the UFC 171 card in March, eventually replied “maybe” and then still managed to squeeze in a dig at McGregor by saying to Parke “it must suck riding conors coattail when you know your the better1.”

Alan’s Angle: With Norman Parke rumoured to be fighting in February or March this fight could make perfect sense, even more so than Sanchez v McGregor as it is Parke’s weight division. It would all depend on whether Parke wins or not. Regardless of the result of Sanchez’s fight, it would be typical matchmaking from the UFC to pit someone of Sanchez’s status in the UFC with an up and comer like Parke. A match-up between the pair would be a win-win for the promotion with either A) Sanchez gets another win and stays relevant or B) Parke continues his way up the ranks and gets more popular much like Hathaway did against Sanchez.
