Miller injured, Brandao steps in against McGregor

Yes you read right folks, Cole Miller is injured and out of his fight with Conor McGregor at the UFC in Dublin. Luckily enough the Irishman has a long lost of fighters clasping for a crack at him and the one that has been selected is Brazilian fighter Diego Brandao.

UFC.com revealed that Miller “tore ligaments in his thumb” during a training session and is now in a full cast.

Diego Brandao (pictured below) and McGregor have exchanged words in the past with the Brazilian saying he would happily face the Irishman as a response to his coach John Kavanagh’s suggestion that the pair should square off.

The 27-year-old winner of TUF is 18-9 in his MMA career and 4-2 in the UFC. He was last in action in a KO loss to fellow McGregor ‘admirer’ Dustin Poirier last December.

Alan’s Angle: This should prove to be a much better visually pleasing fight for the casual MMA fans that will be showing up to see McGregor fight in Dublin. Miller I a grappler while Brandao is more of a stand-up brawler and, while I am sure it doesn’t bother McGregor who he is fighting in Dublin, this should be a welcome change to the card for fight fans. General ticket sales start on Friday from ticketmaster.ie.
