Shooto 45 takes place next week and the promoter has a battle of sexes planned for the event, as reported by MMA Junkie.
Andre Pederneiras has scheduled a bantamweight fight between Emerson Falcao (0-1) and Juliana Velasquez (0-0), pictured above, for the December 27th card which takes place in Rio de Janeiro.
“We guarantee that everything will be done within the law and safely”, Pederneires told Combate.com.
It is said that this will be the first time this has happened in the new age of unified rules of MMA but it is rumoured that one bout took place years ago with the man winning.

Alan’s Angle: Good move for event promotion, bad move for MMA. If the woman got injured etc it would result in nothing but bad press for MMA. Can you imagine all the uneducated politicians and ‘haters’ of MMA having that in their arsenal against the sport. If the promoter done this to just get a bit of publicity then it has been a clever move. Something tells me this won’t go ahead (I hope).
