Joe Rogan appeared on Sports Nation the other day and the conversation lead to Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather. When asked who would win in a fight right now between the pair Rogan said, much to the dismay of some of the crowd and panellists, that Rousey would.
This topic got broached recently in an interview with female boxing legend Ann Wolfe in which she said herself that she would knock Rousey out.
Alan’s Angle: Rogan’s explanation and reasoning would only hit home with MMA fans and those that understand the game. From an outsider’s perspective thinking a male multiple weight world boxing champion would be beaten by a woman, regardless of her combat experience, does seem a little preposterous.
It is down to ‘understandable ignorance’. I would tend to agree with Rogan here but I can understand why those who have little to no knowledge of how MMA works would think otherwise. Not to say that Rousey would simply beat Mayweather if they were to fight right now as he surely, more than most, would have a punchers chance. This is more of a ‘Boxer vs. MMA fighter’ conversation and hands-down a highly skilled mixed martial artist will beat a highly skilled boxer in an MMA fight.
