A huge fight between recent TUF tryout Ross Houston and number-one ranked UK Welterweight Lewis Long has been set for Cage Warriors’ return to Wales on March 3rd.
Cage Warriors have announced that two of the most exciting fighters on the European Welterweight scene will meet in the octagon in their first Welsh event of 2018. Long (15-3) has finished 12 opponents within the distance since his MMA career began, securing an impressive 80% finish rate. Houston (5-0), a dangerous fighter with very real capability to end the fight both on the feet and on the ground, vows to remain undefeated and continue to dominate the division.
Houston’s last outing saw him defeat home favourite Aaron Khalid at CW87 in one of the most entertaining bouts of the night. Many believe Khalid’s experience would be too much for Houston, but were proved wrong when the Scotsman showcased superior skill both during striking and grappling exchanges and won via unanimous decision. At the same event, Lew Long fell short to Roberto ‘RoboCop’ Soldic, one of the highest ranked fighters on the continent, so will look to get back to winning ways and assert his claim as one of the division’s best.
“This is a fight that had to happen in the Cage Warriors Welterweight division,” said CW President Graham Boylan. “Both of these guys have knockout power and legit submission skills, so people have been asking to see this one for a while. A lot of questions will be answered on March 3rd.”
This announcement adds another exciting fight to an already stellar card, topped by a match up between Bantamweight knockout artists Josh Reed and Brian Bouland. Welshmen Kris Edwards, Richard Williams and Mason Jones will also fight on the night, making this one event not to miss for those looking to catch Wales’ top fighting talent put on a huge come-country event.
CW91 looks to be another sell-out show, so fans are advised to grab tickets while they can from the Cage Warriors website here.
