Hein vs Hadzovic set for UFC Hamburg

UFC has today confirmed another exciting bout set to feature on UFC FIGHT NIGHT: VOLKAN vs. SHOGUN in Hamburg, with a lightweight bout between Germany’s UFC star Nick “Sergeant” Hein and Damir “The Bosnian Bomber” Hadzovic.

Nick Hein, an ex-judoka with 35 top-three finishes in national and international judo competitions, and popular for once being Germany’s toughest police sergeant, will show his excellent skills in striking, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and – of course – judo against Damir Hadzovic, a Danish fighter with roots in Bosnia.

This will be Hein’s seventh UFC bout with four wins from six so far. One of those victories came two years ago at the same Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg. This bout sees Hein looking to get back into the win column follow his loss in Brazil two months ago against Davi Ramos via a rear-naked-choke. Hein has an incredible fanbase in Germany and beneath his police career he has a history as an actor and self-defence coach.

For Hein, living and training in Los Angeles for the past two years, fighting in his home country is one of the best things an MMA career can offer: “I’m finally in front of my home crowd again. I was able to generate a new following through my social activities in Germany and I am happy to introduce them to the exciting sport of MMA. I feel a little bit like it’s destiny.”

His opponent, Damir Hadzovic, is about eight centimetres taller than Hein and known for his iron will and stubbornness. Like Hein, he is extremely fast in striking and can surprise even very experienced fighters.

During his professional MMA career Hadzovic has demonstrated his talent with 11 professional wins. He earned the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus for a perfectly timed and placed flying knee just seven seconds into the final round against Marcin Held at UFC FIGHT NIGHT: GUSTAFSSON vs. TEIXEIRA last year in Stockholm, Sweden.

Tickets to UFC FIGHT NIGHT®: VOLKAN vs. SHOGUN are available now via Eventim (eventim.de/ufc).
