Brazilian media outlet Combate have just announced news that Fedor will be making his Rizin FF return against former UFC Light Heavyweight Fabio Maldonado.
The fight is set to take place on 17th June in St Petersburg, Russia and will likely be the main event for the show.
Fedor defeated Singh Jaideep in his return to MMA on 31st December for the promotion and will now take a step up in opponents when he clashes with Brazilian, Maldonado.
Maldonado was released from the UFC after a 5-6 stint and has since competed in a boxing match which he won in the first round.
Tony’s Thoughts:
It’s great to see Fedor getting a strong opponent for his next bout after the underwhelming opponent in his promotional debut back in December. Maldonado will be looking to stand and bang with “The Last Emperor” and will be a risky fight for Fedor.
A win for Fedor over Maldonado shows that he can still hang with some of the big names in the division, whilst a win for Maldonado over Fedor is a huge tick in the box in helping him pave a way back to the UFC.
