KSW 39 has officially broken the 50,000 tickets sold mark. Speaking with Martin Lewandowski, KSW co-founder, earlier today he confirmed to me that the powerhouse Polish outfit reached the milestone over the weekend pushing the monumental event further into the record breaking books.
The aptly named ‘KSW Colosseum’ event became the highest selling MMA event ever in Europe when it surpassed UFC on FOX 14 (30,000) weeks ago and now the event is on the cusp of breaking into the top 5 most attended MMA events of all time.
To put things into perspective, UFC 129 in 2011 featured GSP, at his height, defending his welterweight title against Jake Shields at home in Canada in front of 55,742 fans and at UFC 193 in Australia 56,214 Aussies witnessed megastar Ronda Rousey suffer the first defeat of her career when Holly Holm sent her tumbling to the canvas.
With a little under three weeks until the event, and the PGE Narodowy stadium in Warsaw said to have a capacity of up to 65,000 for this event, who knows what the final tally on May 27th will actually be.
KSW 39 will feature no less than five title fights, Polish crossover stars Mariusz Pudzianowski & Popek Monster, Olympic medalist Damian Janikowski, and, of course, the main event superfight between KSW champions Borys Mankowski and Mamed Khalidov.
You can still purchase tickets for the event from eBilet.pl and if you can’t make it on the night you can watch from anywhere on the world via live PPV on KSWTV.com.
