UK Flyweight Dominic “Black Panther” Wooding should already be a name you are familiar with but if not, rest assured you will do very soon.
Wooding moved his professional record to 3-0 this past weekend with a stunning performance over a tough opponent in Lionel Marrero at WFS 6 and was crowned Flyweight Champion as a result.
For Wooding just getting to fight on the show was a bonus, having had a number of fighters withdraw from the potential bout and he gives full credit to Marrero for showing up on fight night.
“He took fight on short notice and not a lot of guys would do that. I was given about four opponents but the deals didn’t happen. Samir Faiddine from France was another one who didn’t want to take the fight.”
The win takes Wooding to three wins out of three fights, all of which have taken place under the Warrior Fight Series banner and he is now keen to take on some of the best 125lbs fighters in the UK.
“Top five or top ten I mean you have guys like Jamie Powell (4-0), Sam Creasey (5-0) and Brett Caswell (8-2) all out there. I am here to challenge myself, everyone wants to be number one and I am here to fight the best.”
Some may deem Wooding’s callouts as premature given that he has only been competing on the professional level for less than a year, but the “Black Panther” has ten amateur bouts under his collar and is prepared to show that he isn’t just here to make up the numbers.
