Dec Larkin to fight in Switzerland

Irish lightweight Dec ‘The Bandit’ Larkin (13-8) will be jetting over to Switzerland next month to compete at Lions FC VI against the undefeated Alex Rodrigues (5-0).

Larkin made a successful return to MMA after over a year away when he defeated Gavin Carlin via first round submission at Chaos FC 14. The Next Gen NI fighter is excited at the opportunity to get back in there.

“Beating a tough fighter like Carlin by first round submission felt amazing. I was a little worried about ring rust but I was happy with the result and it has filled me full of confidence. I am looking forward to getting back in there and competing to the best of my ability,” he said.

His opponent is one of Switzerland’s rising stars. Rodrigues is just 22-years-old and had a promising amateur career. He turned pro in 2013 and has since won five straight, all via first round submissions. The prospect of fighting in Switzerland against a fighter like Rodrigues is a welcome challenge for Larkin.

“This is a big fight for me. Competing in mainland Europe and against a quality fighter like him is exciting. I am looking to make a name for myself and see how far I can go. I have heard nothing but good things about the Lions FC promotion so fighting for them should be fun and a pleasure.”

Lions FC VI takes place September 12th in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
