Its official. Conor McGregor Vs Eddie Alvarez is set to headline #UFC205 in New York City as announced by UFC President Dana White on Sports Centre.
In getting the bout agreed, McGregor stands to become the first UFC fighter to hold UFC belts in simultaneous weight classes currently holding the UFC 145lbs bout.
The UFC’s trip to New York was already set to be a special event marking the promotion’s first trip to the Big Apple since a ban which was set in 1997 was released earlier this year.
McGregor comes into the Lightweight bout not having fought at 155lbs since he took the Cage Warriors Lightweight strap from Ivan Buchinger back at Cage Warriors 51 in December 2012.
Alvarez will be putting his 155lbs belt on the line for the first time since winning it against former Champion Rafael dos Anjos in July.
