CW93 will see many of Scandinavia’s finest fighters, including Kenneth Bergh, Nicolas Dalby, Soren Bak and Alan Carlos, descend on Gothenburg’s Lisebergshallen for a history-making event on April 28th.
Cage Warriors is Europe’s leading and longest-running MMA promotion, and has launched the careers of many of the biggest names in the sport including Conor McGregor. Its mission is to showcase the best of European MMA and provide local heroes with a platform to achieve global greatness. Cage Warriors events are known for providing incredible atmosphere, high production values and showcasing amazing fight action from some of the toughest athletes in Europe. On April 28th, Cage Warriors will partner with Viaplay, one of the biggest and best European sports broadcasters, to bring Scandinavian sports fans one huge night of MMA that is not to be missed.
“Sweden has a strong international reputation when it comes to MMA and we’re looking forward to another packed show when Cage Warriors comes to Gothenburg and puts three exciting local fighters on the card,” says Per Nunstedt, Vice President of MTG Sports.
For generations, Scandinavia has produced some of the finest MMA fighters on the world scene, and Cage Warriors have assembled a stellar Scandi line-up to take on the best in Europe for their first visit to Sweden. UFC veteran Nicolas Dalby, who established himself as one of the most dominant welterweights on the continent with his 5-year, 11-fight undefeated streak between 2010 and 2015, will return to Cage Warriors from the UFC looking to re-start another incredible run. Soren ‘True Viking’ Bak, also from Denmark, will join Dalby on the card after an impressive first-round submission victory over Martin Stapleton at CW88.
Norway’s Kenneth Bergh, another big-name Scandi star, will look to continue his undefeated rise through the Cage Warriors light heavyweight division. All but one of Bergh’s 6 wins have ended in the very first round, making him one of the most exciting fighters in Europe to watch. Also fighting out of Norway on April 28th will be Thomas Robertsen, Hakon Foss and knockout artist Alexander Jacobsen, who last fought Cage Warriors lightweight champion Chris Fishgold at CW88.
Joining the card from Sweden are Cornelia Holm, Junior Karanta and Alan Carlos. After undefeated runs at both the 2016 IMMAF World Championships and the 2017 European Open, Holm made her Cage Warriors debut at CW87 in a dominant performance which placed her as a definite female flyweight prospect to keep your eyes on this year. After knocking out his opponent in just 8 seconds in his last Cage Warriors outing, Junior Karanta is another Swedish fighter to follow closely on April 28th. The final fighter to be confirmed for CW93 is Finland’s Aleksi Mantykivi, who has picked up 11 wins across the European lightweight scene in the last six years, including numerous impressive submission finishes.
“Some of the most exciting guys ever to fight for Cage Warriors have come from Scandinavia,” Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan said. “We’re giving them a platform to put on an incredible show for Scandi fight fans alongside Viaplay, one of the most respected broadcasters in the region. Scandinavian fans are world famous for the amazing atmosphere they create. April 28th is going to be incredible.”
