jon jonesUFC officials finally confirmed that Jonny “Bones” Jones (19-1) will face Glover Teixeira (22-2) on February 22nd at UFC 170 in the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Coming off the backend of his toughest UFC fight to date, a five-round war with Alexander Gustafsson in September, Jones now faces another incredibly tough opponent in Teixeira.

The 34-year-old Brazilian fighter is currently on a 20-fight winning streak which includes being 5-0 in the UFC with such wins over Ryan Bader, James Te Huna and “Rampage” Jackson. Glover has been hotly tipped to be a champ by UFC Hall of Famer and training partner Chuck Liddell.

What is good about the timing of this fight is that it takes place the month before UFC London will be held where another major light-heavyweight fight takes place; Gustafsson vs Manuwa, where the winner there is all but guaranteed a title shot.

Any combination of fights between Jones, Teixeira, Gustafsson and Manuwa are all interesting and I personally would like to see any one of the combination of fights that could be made from these two bouts early next year.
