KSW returns with another action-packed event on December 23rd live from Katowice, Poland. KSW 41 will feature a stellar main event which will pit the pound for pound top South African fighter Dricus du Plessis (11-1) against KSW welterweight champion Borys Mankowski (19-6-1) in a true battle of two continents.
After dominating in South Africa winning titles in two different divisions, Dricus du Plessis now embarks on a mission to conquer Europe. Known as ‘Stillknocks’, the 23-year-old is currently on a seven-fight-win-streak and boasts an impressive 100% finishing ratio. In particular he has had a breakout 2017 defending his welterweight title and winning the middleweight title in leading South African promotion EFC. Now he has his eyes on finishing the year by winning the KSW welterweight title.
Standing in his way however will be the main who has held the title since 2014 Borys Mankowski. Over the years ‘The Tasmanian Devil’ has fended off title challenges from the likes of TUF winner Jesse Taylor, UFC veteran John Maguire, and top German competitor David Zawada. Seemingly out of challenges he stepped up to middleweight in his last fight and pushed all-time great Mamed Khalidov the distance in front of nearly 58,000 people at the national stadium in Warsaw, Poland at KSW 39. Although he did not win he gained universal praise for his performance and a legion of new fans. Now Mankowski will look to defend his welterweight title once again as he faces a new threat to his crown coming in the shape of Dricus du Plessis.
The co-main event will see a heavyweight battle between the infamous rapper Popek Monster (3-2) and actor Tomasz Oswiecinski (0-0) in a fight which has huge crossover appeal in Poland. This fight is guaranteed fireworks. Popek secured his first win for KSW this past May at the aforementioned KSW 39 event when he stopped bodybuilder Robert Burneika in the first round due to strikes. He will now look to build on this win as he looks to put a stop to his opponents MMA career before it even begins.
