Niklas Backstrom (7-0) remained undefeated and captured his 7th win in style as he KO’d German Fighter Max Coga (9-2) with a front kick early in the first round in the main event of Europa MMA’s first event.
Many believe that a win here for either fighter would all but guarantee a call from the UFC. Unfortunately for Coga he lost as UFC is returning Germany in May and he would have been an ideal candidate for the card.
Backstrom landed the kick around ten seconds into the bout and followed it up with a barrage of punches forcing referee Neil Hall to put an end to the bout, you can see in the video below.
Elsewhere on the card UFC veteran Andre Winner (16-8-1) defeated Jeremy Petely (10-5-1) via unanimous decision. 32-year-old Winner is now 5-2 since his 2011 release from the UFC.
