As has been the rumour for many months, it has now been confirmed that the UFC has been sold for £3.1bn.
The promotion are expected to make the announcement on Monday that it has been sold to a group of investors which include WME-IMG and the deal will see the Fertitta brothers (Frank and Lorenzo) give up their majority stake in the business.
It is expected that the Fertitta’s will remain shareholders but at a low level, whilst UFC President Dana White is also expected to remain part of the promotion’s plans and will not be leaving the company following the announcement.
Dana White spoke with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto and confirmed that he will be staying with the UFC;
“President, owner, working my ass off, just doing it without my best friend and partners for 20 years.”
The new owners will be led by WME-IMG have worked with the UFC for many years and played a key role in the TV deal the promotion signed with FOX in 2011.
