UFC Fight Night: Błachowicz vs. Santos

UFC Fight Night: Błachowicz v Santos (also known as UFC Fight Night 145 and UFC on ESPN+ 3) takes place tomorrow night from the O2 arena in the Czech Republic capital, Prague. Ahead of the action-packed card Lucie Pudilova (8-3), Chris Fishgold (17-2-1) and Daniel Teymur (6-2) spoke about their bouts and the historic first UFC event in Prague.

Lucie Pudilová

When asked about a UFC event taking place in Czech Republic, Pudilová stated “I was very happy. It’s great for all UFC fans in our country and of course for me personally. UFC is best organization in the world so its best possible advertisement for MMA in our country. Popularity of this sport is growing here but UFC Fight Night will be the best event until now. I’m happy that my fans will have a chance to see me fighting in person on home soil after all these years. And I’m looking forward for their support.”

Pudilová is currently 8-3 as a professional and is also the first female fighter from the Czech Republic to fight in the UFC. “I’m really happy that it was me who was the first Czech female fighter in UFC. I’m proud but it’s also a responsibility. I believe that in the future we will have more fighters and coaches at the top level.”

Pudilová will be making the transition from bantamweight to flyweight for her fight with Liz Carmouche but doesn’t envisage staying in the division. “I don’t think I’m a typical bantamweight fighter. I’m 24 years old so still quite young and my body is closer to flyweight. When I’m older I think I’ll return to bantamweight.”

When asked about her opponent, Liz Carmouche, and what we can expect on Saturday night, Pudilová responded by saying “She is a strong fighter, very tough. She had a black belt in BJJ and that is her main weapon.” She also went on to say “We all have some pictures in our mind but we don’t want to make them public. I was training hard and I’m ready to show it in Octagon.”

Chris Fishgold

Chris Fishgold takes on Daniel Teymur on Saturday night and is expecting a good fight, but a fight that is more advantageous for him. “I think I have the advantage against Teymur, he is very one dimensional and I’m a mixed martial artist; I can fight anywhere. I know he’s coming off two losses and if he’s learnt from them, he could come out very composed. I need to play it as it comes. It’s going to be a good fight.”

With 20 professional MMA fights under his belt already, Fishgold is more than ready for Teymur on Saturday night. “It’s been amazing! I’ve done everything right in my eyes and it’ll show this weekend. I can’t wait to get in the Octagon and show off my hard work.” Fighgold also added what we can expect from him on Saturday by saying “I’m back to the same old Fishgold, the fans are in for a treat. It’s going to be an exciting match-up.”

Daniel Teymur

Coming into the fight on the back of 2 losses, Daniel Teymur will be looking to get back to winning ways when he takes on Chris Fishgold in a fight that he’s more than ready for. “I know Chris is good on the ground but let’s see who has the best fight, it’s MMA. I know what I need to execute on the night to get the upper hand. I’m ready to go three hard rounds with him.”

When asked about his preparation for the fight and what we can expect, Teymur said “I’ve gone through one of my best training camps to date, I’ve changed a lot of my regime. I was injury free throughout the whole camp and feeling 100%. I’m the knockout machine again! I’m prepared for everything.” With regard to Saturday night, Teymur said “I’ll bring my all. I am more than ready and in the best shape of my life. Let’s see what happens.”
