This Saturday, in the wake of McGregor/Mayweather, it’s back to MMA and what better a way than to have a UFC Fight Night. Here is the main card breakdown.
(Welterweight) Leon Edwards vs Bryan Barberena: We start of the night with 2 welterweight hopefuls. Most of you will know Edwards from BAMMA where he is a former Welterweight champion since leaving the promotion in late 2014 and joining the UFC he has a record of 5 – 2 – 0. His opponent Barberena has been fighting in the UFC since around the same time and is currently 4 – 2 – 0 in the UFC. Edwards is more of a striker and Barberena is notable for his knockouts. This should be an interesting one to get the main card off to a good start.
(Middleweight) Siyar Bahadurzada vs Rob Wilkinson: Originally this was meant to be a welterweight bout between Bahadurzada and Abu Azaitar but it was changed to a middleweight clash against newcomer Rob Wilkinson. Wilkinson is 11 – 0 – 0 is known for his finishes mostly in the first round. Bahadurzada is also known for his finishes and has experience on his side, however; he hasn’t fought since March of last year while Wilkinson hasn’t fought since October. Ring rust will play a part for both while cardio could play a part been that Bahadurzada had to put on 15 extra pounds for this bout.
(Women’s Batamweight) Marion Reneau vs Talita de Oliveira: Originally Reneau was meant to face former Featherweight champion, Germaine de Randamie, in what would be the former champ’s first fight since been stripped of the title back in June but de Randamie was injured during training recently so she has been replace by another newcomer in de Oliveira. Both women are known for their finishes; de Oliveira has youth on her side and is known for first round submissions. While Reneau has experience and is more dangerous on the ground. Both are eager for a win as de Oliveira wants to make a good first impression while Reneau’s last outing was a draw against Bethe Correia.

(Main Event) (Heavyweight) Alexander Volkov vs Stefan Struve: This should be an interesting one. Volkov is a former Bellator Heavyweight and is knockout machine and holds a victory over ‘Big Country’ Roy Nelson and is currently on a 4 fight win streak. Struve is dangerous on the ground and he is the tallest man in UFC, so reach is on his side, aswell as that, he is one of two men and the first to beat current heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Whoever wins this could be next in line for a shot at the belt, or even a shot against former champion Velasquez. It’s all to play for in this one.
