Here we go, the big one. Featherweight champion Conor McGregor vs perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz in a welterweight match up.
Round one had a good pace, both fighters landed some good shots. McGregor found success with his left and Diaz found a home for his jab also. The deciding factor was perhaps McGregor’s oblique kicks with Conor landing them at will. The round ended with McGregor on top of Diaz after a failed takedown attempt. I’d give McGregor round one. Diaz bloodied above the right eye going into round two.
Round two begins with Conor finding a home for his left, landing some solid shots. Diaz then returned the favour and began to find a home too. Conor began to look wobbly and tired from the strikes, looking for a take down in desperation, it was from here that Diaz cinched up a guillotine, the fighters scrambled and it ended up with Diaz in mount, from there McGregor rolled to his back where Diaz grabbed a hold of a rear naked choke making Conor submit.
Result: Nate Diaz, Submission(RNC), Round 2.
