GLORY has today announced four fights for its upcoming GLORY 31 AMSTERDAM event in June. Two world titles are on the line, two participants are confirmed for the welterweight tournament and there’s a very interesting featherweight bout lined up as well.
Robin van Roosmalen (35-6, 19 KO’s) will headline the event, defending his World Lightweight Championship against Thai standout Sittichai (108-29-5, 26 KO’s). They fought back at GLORY 25 MILAN in November and the fight ended with a controversial decision in favor of Van Roosmalen. This time neither fighter will want to leave it in the hands of the judges.
Headlining the SUPERFIGHT SERIES section of the card – which airs via UFC Fight Pass – is light-heavyweight champion Artem Vakhitov (15-5, 5 KO’s). The Russian will be making his first defense of the title he won in March as he faces the veteran Mourad ‘The Silent Power’ Bouzidi (79-22-2, 34 KO’s), currently ranked #2 and riding a four-fight winning streak.
Two other fights were also confirmed for the event today. There is a Welterweight Contender Tournament on the numbered card, with #1-ranked Murthel ‘The Predator’ Groenhart (58-20-3, 33 KO’s) and French newcomer Karim ‘The Feline” Benmansour of France confirmed for participation and two slots remaining to be filled.
On the SUPERFIGHT SERIES card, #1-ranked featherweight Mosab ‘The Jaguar’ Amrani (51-11-4, 18 KO’s) looks to bounce back from the disappointment of last month’s failed title shot when he faces rising young French prospect Eddy Naït-Slimani (60-1, 17 KO’s), a fast and tricky fighter who made a very impressive debut at GLORY 28 PARIS.
GLORY 31 AMSTERDAM takes place Saturday, June 25 at the RAI AMSTERDAM, the same venue which hosted December’s GLORY 25 event. Tickets go on sale next week via Ticketmaster.nl
