TUF 24 Finale Preview

This Saturday The Ultimate Fighter 24: Tournament of Champions Finale winner, Tim Elliott will face off against Demetrious Johnson for the UFC Flyweight Title. Elliott was previously released by the UFC after 3 successive defeats ending his UFC campaign with a record of 2 wins and 4 losses. He then signed with Titan FC where he began a career revival, a win against former UFC fighter Iliarde Santos earned him the Titan FC Flyweight Championship, which he went on to defend twice.

TUF 24 was different to previous Ultimate Fighter Tournaments as it was a tournament between other champions from regional mixed martial arts promotions providing the winner with an immediate title shot against Demetrious Johnson in the UFC. Elliott grasped this opportunity with both hands as he went out all guns blazing finishing his first 2 fights by submission and went on to win the tournament.

Prediction

Tim has shown some great all round fighting capabilities and determination since leaving the UFC. He possesses an awkward standup game and some excellent grappling and submission skills. However Johnson is a different animal to his previous competition, one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, he seems to get better every fight. Mighty Mouse is not only an excellent wrestler, he has lightning fast striking and crisp combinations and has a deadly clinch game mixing both elbows and knees. Tim is a tough fighter so I predict a TKO in the 2nd round in favour of Mighty Mouse.

Other Notable Fights

Joseph Benavidez currently on a 5 fight win streak including a win against Tim Elliott will face Henry Cejudo who comes off a savage defeat to Johnson at UFC 197.

UFC veteran Jake Ellenberger comes off a victory against Matt Brown to face another veteran in Jorge Masvidal.

Women’s Bantamweight title challenger Sara McMann will face another fighter Rousey has scalped, Alexis Davis.
