Following his controversial defeat last night to Kirill Grishenko, Senegalese heavyweight Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane confirmed via Instagram that his team are going to appeal the loss at ONE on TNT IV in Singapore last night.
The 29-year old wrestling sensation experienced defeat for the first time in his MMA career when he retired ‘incapacitated’ after the a debatable late strike against the Belarusian, Grishenko. In what at first seemed like a strike to the throat bang on the five-minute mark, Reug Reug collapsed to the canvas. After a period of treatment in the Circle, referee Olivier Coste called a halt to proceedings before declaring Grishenko the victor by TKO.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, Reug Reug said:
My team will be appealing the decision of the fight to correctly make it a no content. I was clearly struck after the bell, where I was hit, incapacitated and I was unable to continue in the contest.
My hope is to rematch my opponent and decide a winner within 3 rounds.
