As reported by various UK MMA outlets (The Sprawl, MMAPlus), Paul Craig is out of his #BAMMA26 main event against Chris Fields which was due to take place on 10th September.
The Light Heavyweight Champion Craig, confirmed to #WHOATV that he was forced out of the fight after tearing a ligament in his ankle whilst wrestling with BAMMA Lightweight Chris Bungard.
“I was wrestling with Bungard and my foot got caught between the cage and him. It was hurting so the next day I went to the physio and they done some acupuncture and ultrasounds. There was no damage to the bone but the doctor and physio both said it was torn.”
“With ultrasounds they send small vibrations through the skin and I was in a lot of pain. The doctor said I will be out for 6-8 weeks but the physio said about 4 weeks.”
“I am more disappointed that I have been out for so long. I have a short window in this sport and need to make the most of it.”
Craig is keen to get back into the cage as soon as possible and has been told that the promotion are working on getting him a rematch with Fields in November.
No word on a replacement for Fields has yet been confirmed by the promotion.
