Paddy Pimblett returns at CW90

The long-awaited return of Liverpool favourite Paddy Pimblett will take place at the Echo Arena on February 24th, when he comes up against Greek submission artist Alexis Savvidis.

Cage Warriors have announced that Paddy ‘the Baddy’ Pimblett (13-2) will move to Lightweight for his return to the octagon, against one of Greece’s top young talents Alexis Savvidis (16-6-1). Pimblett, after building one of the most loyal and energetic fanbases on the European MMA scene, will look to announce his return to form in convincing fashion after a training injury forced him off the CW88 card in October.

Paddy Pimblett has provided Cage Warriors fans with some of the most memorable scenes of recent years, with the highlight of his career undoubtedly being his knockout win over Johnny Frachey which won him the World Featherweight Title at CW78. After losing the belt at CW82, ‘The Baddy’ is looking to reinvent himself at Lightweight and prove to the world that he’s worthy of title contention once again.

Pimblett said: “This is a pivotal fight for me, the most important fight of my life and more than any title fight. If I lose, I’m going to get called a hype train for life and thrown by the wayside in UK MMA. But that’s just not The Baddy. When I win I’ll show people I’m back!

People can slander my name all they want, but when I’m in there there’s no one like me. I’m going to show everyone why I was called the next big thing in this sport, and I’ll prove that by the end of 2018 when I’m two-time world champion at the age of 23.”

Savvidis, who is no stranger to taking out tough competition, will have other ideas. 11 of his 16 wins have come within the distance, and his 8 submission finishes prove that Pimblett will have to bring the best of his renowned grappling skills to the mat in order to get the win.

At CW90, three local heroes will compete in the most important fights of their careers. In the first Cage Warriors card of a big 2018 for the promotion, Pimblett joins teammate Molly McCann, who fights for the World Flyweight Title on the night, and fellow Liverpudlian Lee Chadwick who will defend his Middleweight Belt.

“This has been a long time coming,” says Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan. “Paddy is back looking for redemption, and we know the Liverpool crowd are going to get fully behind him for this one. It’s never a quiet night when Pimblett walks out!”

Until midnight on Friday 22nd December, fans can save 20% on CW90 tickets with Cage Warriors’ early bird offers.

Two world titles on the line and the return of ‘the Baddy’. This is one event not to miss.
