McGregor not waiting for Aldo, going to compete in BJJ tourney in Rome

It became official last night that Conor McGregor will face Jose Aldo in July at UFC 189. That is nearly 6 months away and ‘The Notorious’ isn’t going to wait for that and says he will compete at the NoGi BJJ Europeans which take place in Rome in April.

Alan’s Angle: This could be a sticky move for McGregor. People who don’t know him always put down his grappling and a win or even a medal at the Europeans might prove his doubters wrong. On the other hand if he doesn’t place it could fuel the fires of the ‘haters’. I also don’t know if the UFC would allow McGregor to compete as avoid the risk of getting injured. If he competes it will be great for the tournament as it will bring eyes to the sport of BJJ and BJJ in Europe in particular.
