Europe’s biggest MMA promotion makes a welcome return to action next week with KSW 53 scheduled to take place in Warsaw on Saturday 11th July.
Originally due to take place in Lodz back in March, KSW 53: Fight Code now becomes KSW 53: Reborn and features the eagerly anticipated trilogy fight between Norman Parke and Mateusz Gamrot. With another stacked card on its way, the restart begins with KSW 53 taking place behind closed doors from a studio setting in the Polish capital.
The main event will see a title unification contest between rivals Norman Parke (28-6-1) and Mateusz Gamrot (15-0). To say that there is no love lost between the two would be putting it mildly. With what is highly regarded as a genuine and intense disregard for each other, the pair have met twice before. The first meeting took place at the historic KSW 39 in front of almost 58,000 people with Gamrot walking away with a narrow decision. The second contest took place at KSW 40 in Dublin, Ireland, and ended controversially in a no-contest.
Arguably the biggest European fight of the year, Parke comes into the fight as the interim-lightweight KSW champion with Gamrot comes in as the KSW lightweight championship.
The co-main event sees a clash between two of Poland’s most beloved fighters and personalities as former KSW welterweight champion Borys Mankowski (20-8-1) takes on former featherweight champion Marcin Wrzosek (14-6). This bout will be contested at lightweight and has fight of the night potential written all over it.
A Polish MMA legend will also return from self-imposed exile at KSW 53 as former UFC man Tomasz ‘The Gorilla’ Drwal (21-5-1) returns to KSW with his eye on a number of high-profile bouts. First up, he must get past the chaotic and dangerous ‘Polish Wanderlei’ Łukasz Bieńkowski (5-3).
KSW 53 will also see the promotional debut of one of Europe’s most sought after fighters, Andrzej Grzebyk (16-3). The 29-year-old is the FEN welterweight and middleweight champion and comes into KSW on an eight-fight-win-streak. He takes on another Polish champion in Tomasz Jakubiec (10-2) with the winner possibly taking a step towards KSW welterweight king champion, Roberto Soldić.
KSW 53: Reborn will take place on Saturday 11th July and will be streamed live globally on KSWTV and the brand new KSW App, available now on iOS and Android.
