Following an announcement yesterday evening that they are set to make a return, KSW confirmed the date for their comeback show earlier this evening.
Originally scheduled to take place in Łódź on Saturday March 21st, KSW 53 was one of the first major MMA events to cancel due to the growing threat of COVID-19 when the Polish promotion made the difficult decision to pull the plug on March 11th.
Taking place in an undisclosed Warsaw studio setting, KSW 53 will feature the mouth-watering lightweight title unification fight between Norman Parke (28-6-1) and the unbeaten Mateusz Gamrot (15-0). In what will be the main event, Parke and Gamrot go again for a third time following the no contest at KSW 40 in Dublin and the unanimous decision win in Gamrot’s favour at KSW 39 in Warsaw.
In the co-main event, The Polish Zombie Marcin Wrzosek (14-6) takes on Borys Mańkowski (20-8-1) in another lightweight encounter. Former TUF contestant Wrzosek came unstuck in his last fight when he came out on the wrong end of a split decision loss to Norman Parke in a closely fought encounter at KSW 50 in London. Mańkowski faired better in his last fight by beating Vaso Bakočević by a first round anaconda choke at KSW 51 in Zagreb.
Taking place on Saturday July 11th, KSW 53 will be available at a discounted PPV price on KSWTV. More fights will be announced in due course.
