Jimi Manuwa to face Anthony Johnson at UFC 191

The UK’s resident heavy hitter Jimi Manuwa (15-1) will travel to Las Vegas in September to face Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson (19-5) at UFC 191 as confirmed by various sources earlier today.

In the fine words of Mr. ‘Rampage’ Jackson: “we’re gonna see some black on back crime!”

Johnson was originally scheduled to face Poland’s Jan Blachowicz but Manuwa was recently cleared to fight again and officials opted to put him against the former light heavyweight title challenger instead.

Both men are renowned for their punching power. Between them they have 26 TKO/KO victories, 19 of which came in the first round.

Manuwa just returned after a year out to beat the aforementioned Jan Blachowicz in Poland a few months ago and Johnson is fresh of losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 187 so this is a massive fight for ‘The Posterboy.’ A win over a recent title contender could shoot him up to the top of the ladder and into title contention himself.

35-year-old Manuwa is a regular training partner to Alexander Gustafsson who faced Johnson in Sweden earlier this year. So I am sure he is well aware of what ‘Rumble’ brings to the table.
