Daley gets title fight and Thompson gets Lashley rematch at Bellator 133

Bellator are set for a massive British Invasion with four of the UK’s biggest and best already being matched for the February 27th card in Uncasville, CT.

The returning Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley (35-13-2) has been granted a title fight against welterweight champ Douglas Lima (26-5). The fight will be Daley’s first under the Bellator banner since his VISA dispute in 2012. Since then he has went 5-1 with all five wins coming via KO/TKO. He has also been entering, and winning, a number of kickboxing contests.

Brazilian Lima has lost just once in his last 15 fights and has only ever been TKO’d once in his career, that coming at the hands of Matt Brown in 2007.

The rematch between Pride legend James Thompson (20-14) and former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley (12-2) is also a welcome addition to the card. The pair first met in SFL in 2012 and Thompson walked away with the decision victory. Since then the giant Brit has racked off wins against former UFC heavyweight Colin Robinson in Ireland and then Eric Prindle in his Bellator debut. Lashley has also been on a good running winning all of his five fights, with four finishes, since their last meeting.

Undefeated British fighter Liam McGeary (9-0) finally gets his well deserved title shot as he takes on Emanuel Newton (25-7). McGeary has racked off six-in-a-row under the Bellator banner, all first round finishes might I add. Newton has also been one of the most impressive fighters on the roster with recent wins over Joey Beltran, Linton Vassell, and King Mo (twice).

There is also a very interesting fight scheduled between MMA veteran Sokoudjou (16-12) and the aforementioned Linton Vassell (14-4). Both fighters are incredibly entertaining to watch. Before the title loss Vassell was on a nine-fight-streak and Sokoudjou has won his past two fights, both in Bellator.
