BAMMA have today announced the signing of Heavyweight Stuart Austin, Featherweight Mike Grundy & Bantamweight Nathaniel Wood.
Stuart Austin (Heavyweight)
Stuart Austin is a highly regarded 25 year old Heavyweight, who fights out of the Trojan Free Fighters in London. The well rounded Judo black belt brings a 8-1 record with most of his victories coming coming via T/KO or Sub.
Mike Grundy (Featherweight)
Mike Grundy signs with BAMMA following his first two successful bouts with the promotion. He made his debut at BAMMA 16 against Ant ‘Submission Magician’ Philips with his victory coming via way of submission in the first round. He followed this up with another first round submission victory over Micheal ‘Gip’ Cuting at BAMMA 17. The Kaobon wrestling coach is also the proud owner of a Commonwealth Games Bronze medal after last years games in Scotland.
Nathaniel Wood (Bantamweight)
Nathaniel ‘The Prospect’ Wood joins the rapidly expanding BAMMA Bantamweight division. His current record stands at 6-1, with his sole loss coming via a very hotly contested fight of the night performance at BAMMA 15, where he narrowly lost to Ed Arthur in his BAMMA debut. Most recently Wood put all the UK Bantamweights on notice when he broke Steve McCombes arm with a kick in his last bout under the Cage Warriors banner.
Tony’s Thoughts:
I’m very excited that we get to keep these three exciting fighters on European soil.
Stuart Austin has been a force at Heavyweight in the States for Bellator and coming off his first career loss will be keen to jump back to winning ways.
Mike Grundy has looked great in his first two bouts and I am keen to see how BAMMA manage his fights in the coming year. For me he is still so new to the sport that it would be wrong to throw him in the deep end but on the flipside he seems as though he is willing to fight whoever BAMMA put in his way.
Nathaniel Woods for me is just another level of fighter. He really is the new breed of mixed martial artist. I have been fortunate enough to see him fight a handful of times and even in defeat he has never failed to put on a spectacle. Very excited for this young man’s career.
