Cage Warriors Fighting Championships crashes into Swansea, Wales this weekend for Cage Warriors 67 and the main event sees the biggest domestic fight of the year go down as Bantamweight Champion Brett Johns (9-0 MMA) puts his title on the line against James Brum (14-2).

Brett Johns Vs James Brum for the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship Bantamweight Title
Johns is making his first title defence on home soil and the Welshman will be faced with his biggest challenge to date. His opponent Brum is on an 8 fight win streak and is arguably one of the best Bantamweights outside of the UFC. But champion Johns is no joke and has gone unbeaten in his professional career winning 9 fights on the bounce. Brum has put everything into this fight including spending a large amount of his camp in the States, whereas the Champ has stayed true to his roots and trained at home in Wales. Both of these guys are so young that its almost horrible and unfsair to see either of them loose momentum but I for one cannot wait to see this fight go down. Johns proved his toughness in winning the title as he overcame not just one but two opponents to win the belt in a tournament. While Johns was winning the gold Brum was focused on taking out all of the other Bantamweight competition in a bid for a well earned title shot. And now we are just over 24 hours away from the biggest domestic fight of the year. Make sure that whatever you are doing on saturday night, that you have access to a laptop/smart phone/tablet as you do not want to miss this one. Cage Warriors have really upped their game in getting this fight organised and lets just hope it lives up to the expectations.
Sean Carter Vs Mario Saeed
A great lightweight bout between Sean Carter and Mario Saeed will lead very well into the main event. “Sexy Curls” Carter very nearly made himself a star when he scored himself a title shot against current champion Stevie Ray at CWFC 60, but Ray was able to dominate Carter and hand the BKK Fighter his first professional loss. Carter rebounded from the loss with a dominant performance over Myles Price in Ireland, winning by triangle choke in the first round. His opponent for Saturday is the highly rated Mario Saeed who trains out of Trojan Fighters. Saeed only has six fights to his name but of his five wins, four have come by armbar. Carter undoubtably will have spent a lot of time with his BJJ coach Lee Catling in the run up to his fight working on armbar defence as you can beat your bottom dollar that Saeed will be hunting for those arms. Carter will look to utilise his unorthodox striking to take advantage of the fight but if this one goes to the ground it will be either mans for the taking. Should be a great fight and I’m pretty pumped for this one.
Shaj Haque Vs Martin McDonough
Martin McDonough will certainly get the crowd fired up as he gets ready to lock horns with Shaj Hague. Mr Pink is looking to pick up his sixth win on the bounce and is arguably hitting the best period of his career to date. Hague is a very highly rated fighter holding three wins to his name but McDonough will be looking to use his experience and home crowd advantage to overcome the new comer and make it a Welsh win in Swansea. I personally think that Hague is a great fighter but may be taking on too much too soon and think that Mr Pink will be able to get the win on the night.
Jamie Pritchard Vs Phil Raeburn
Phil Raeburn is another one of the Welsh fighters getting a shot on the main card. The Bantamweight fighter holds a 5-3 record and will be making his CW debut on the show. His opponent Jamie Pritchard boasts exactly the same stats as him and will also be fighting for the first time in the famous yellow gloves. Raeburn is a submission specialist so will be very interested to see how this fight plays out and if he is able to get Pritchard to the ground. If he does it will be a tough ask for Pritchard to earn a win in his debut.
Gemma Hewitt Vs Agnieszka Neszwiedzight
Hewitt fights out of House of Pain MMA and will be making her second professional appearance at CWFC 67. She won her first fight by TKO and will be looking to maintain her momentum into this one. Her opponent the Polish Agnieszka has five fights and five wins under her belt so will be the more experienced fighter in the bout and has fought for CW on one previous occassion. Hewitt will have to dig real deep in this fight and its very much a sink or swim opportunity for Gemma. Always interested to see the womans divisions grow and this fight should be great back and forth action between two young and hungry fighters.
Simas Norkus Vs Stu Tyrie
Welshman Stu Tyrie will certainly be the home town hero going into the first main card fight of the night in a Light Heavyweight clash. Tyrie will also be desperate for victory having lost his last four fights on the bounce. His opponent Simas Norkus is still new to the professional scene having only fought four times and Tyrie will no doubt have got some tips from fellow Welshman Jack Marshman who was Norkus’s last opponent, knocking him out in the second round of their fight. Interesting to see Norkus at Light Heavyweight as the cut down to Middleweight clearly had some impact on him. This should be a fun fight to kick off the main card and its a given that the home crowd will be getting firmly behind Tyrie in this one.
