It seems like the highly anticipated grudge match between Conor McGregor and Cole Miller is in the final stages of being signed for the UFC’s return to Dublin after more than five years.
So what is the hold up? Well, according to Cole Miller on UFC Tonight he said that he has been made aware of the fight but has not been given the contract due to McGregor not yet being cleared by doctors. McGregor injured his knee last August during a unanimous decision win over Max Holloway in Boston and has been on the mend ever since. It is said that McGregor is expected to be cleared well in advance of July 19th and it is merely just going through some technicalities with the doctors.
The fued between the pair started when McGregor had some choice words to say about some members of the UFC’s featherweight division. This annoyed Miller and after his win over Andy Ogle last October he stated he wanted “Colin McGuber” (Conor McGregor) to step up and fight him.
The 29-year-old has been a member of the UFC since 2007 and has fought 16 times inside the Octagon going 10-6. McGregor, in comparison, has only fought twice in the UFC winning impressively on both occasions.
Irish bookmakers are already taking bets for the fight and have McGregor as a favourite @4/9 and Miller @7/4.
Alan’s Angle: If there was any doubt in McGregor being fit enough to be ready to fight by July 19th then the UFC would have waited to put a show on in Dublin. The card is reliant on McGregor although I doubt he will be in the main event.
