In a positive move by the IAPA (Irish Amateur Pankration Association), the organisation who looks over amateur MMA in the Republic of Ireland, we will have team trials for the IMMAF European Championships set to take place in Birmingham, England from Nov 19th – 22nd.
Previously the IAPA failed to hold a team trials for the World Championships which happened in July during international fight week. This saw just four fighters from the SBG gym represent the Republic of Ireland at the World Championships. Despite this though the team registered one gold medal (Frans Mlambo) and one silver medal (Sinead Kavanagh).
The IAPA Team Trials will take place in SBG HQ in Dublin on October 18th. Below are the following weight categories, there will be also same day weigh-ins as per IMMAF regulations with a 5% allowance.
