It looks like the Scottish card will have a green theme on the night as Donegal’s Joseph Duffy (13-1) has been confirmed to fight veteran Ivan Jorge (26-4) on the July 18th card in Glasgow.
The news follows the announcement made earlier this week of Dubliner Paul Redmond vs. Robert Whiteford on the same card.
Duffy, who has become universally known as ‘the last man to beat Conor McGregor’, made his UFC debut in March defeating Jake Lindsey with a first round TKO and impressing everyone, including Dana White himself.
Brazilian Ivan Jorge has been competing since 2001, seven years longer than Duffy, and he made his UFC debut last September and has went 2-1 in the promotion since. This fight will be the 34-year-olds first fight in the UK although he has competed a couple of times in Russia and Spain.
A former Jungle Fights champ, Jorge is a respected grappler and has an impressive 10 first round submission victories to his name while never being submitted himself.
Duffy himself also has a number of first round submission victories but since he came back from his stint in professional boxing his striking has looked incredible and his past two fights last just a combined 2 minutes 23 seconds.
Tickets for UFC Glasgow go on sale May 29th.
